Well, once agin, the Utes found a way to win.
After trailing for three quarters Saturday night, the Utes took control in the fourth scoring 19 unanswered points on their way to a 22-10 victory over Wyoming in the annual blackout game. As usual, the Utah defense performed brilliantly as they have all season and the offense looked stagnant like it has all season as well. But another thing Utah has done all year is find a way to win games. They have done it four times so far this year and twice at home.
The main storyline from this game has to be the benching of Terrance Cain for the freshman Jordan Wynn. Now Cain has done a great job at the qb position so far this year, leading the Utes to a 7-1 record, but the Utah offense has been unable to do anything for the last couple of games and a change needed to happen. Enter Jordan Wynn, the freshman who has never played in a college game. After a dull first half against Wyoming, the Utah coaching staff decided to shake things up and put Wynn in at quarterback.
Now although his numbers don't show it, Wynn actually played a decent game. You could definitely tell that there was more of a flow to the offense with Wynn under center. His touchdown pass in the fourth put the Utes up for good. It will be interesting to see what the coaches do as to who will start next week against New Mexico.
As for my opinion, i would start Wynn this weekend. The Utes have two weeks until the big TCU game and from what i saw Wynn do in the second half, he deserves to get the start against a team who is yet to win a game this year. If Wynn fails to succeed against the Lobos, Cain, who i believe should be itching to prove he can be an offensive catalyst, will be waiting to shine once again. I'm already excited to see how the Utes do this weekend and hopefully the offense will be ready for the Horned Frogs in two weeks.
